Tipster posts rumored names of the 5G Apple iPhone 12 models

For most of the summer, when we discussed the upcoming 5G Apple iPhone models, we referred to them as the 5.4-inch iPhone 12, the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max, the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. This seemed to make sense since there would be two standard iPhone models and two “Pro” models providing some sort of balance. However, Twitter tipster “L0vetodream” disseminated a tweet today in which he claims to give us the name of each model in the upcoming iPhone 12 series. Keep in mind that these names come from the tipster’s source(s) so take this information with the proverbial grain of salt.

The 5.4-inch iPhone might be called the iPhone 12 mini

The tipster says to expect the 5.4-inch model to be named the iPhone 12 mini. The 6...

T-Mobile goes for Verizon and AT&T’s jugular with yet another crazy good deal

Just when we thought T-Mobile couldn’t possibly get any more aggressive in its efforts to steal customers away from the competition and stay ahead of AT&T while continuing to inch closer to Verizon, the “Un-carrier” has launched yet another irresistible promotion.

This one is aimed specifically at convincing Verizon and AT&T subscribers to jump ship by offering them a $250 incentive with (almost) no strings attached. Like virtually all BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) deals recently available at any of the country’s top mobile network operators, this requires both a number port-in and a new service line activation but not much else.
Kicked off right before the weekend started with little to no fanfare, the incredibly attractive special offer doesn’t have an expiration date listed among its ...

Apple to use mini-LED displays on up to 40% of iPads next year

The Apple Watch has used OLED since its inception and soon every new iPhone model will take advantage of the technology too. But reports suggest Apple is already looking towards the next generation of displays.

There’s more competition in the world of mini-LED

A new research note by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors) claims Apple has recently decided to accelerate its adoption of mini-LED display technology on the iPad and MacBook product lines. The move comes amid increased competition among mini-LED display chip suppliers. Kuo says that Epistar was expected to be the exclusive supplier of mini-LED display chips for Apple next year.

However, rival Sanan Optoelectronics has experienced better and faster than expected development in recent months and has now secured an agreement with ...

AT&T and Verizon become unlikely allies in the 5G war against T-Mobile

There are very few things bitter rivals Verizon and AT&T have historically been able to agree on, but believe it or not, the two cellular giants are essentially banding together against quite possibly the greatest threat their wireless industry duopoly has ever faced.

T-Mobile, which was once the nation’s distant fourth-largest wireless service provider, has already managed to surpass AT&T’s subscriber numbers shortly after being allowed to join forces with Sprint, setting its sights now on trumping Verizon as well. While that’s unlikely to actually happen anytime soon, Big Red’s fears that Magenta will eventually end up dominating the US cellular landscape are justified by the “Un-carrier’s” early lead in the 5G development field.
It’s no longer a big secret that T-Mo’s “nationwide” low-...

The OnePlus 8T 5G hype train has officially left the station

Not that there was ever any serious doubt, but rumors of a T-series sequel to the OnePlus 8 duo released earlier this year and 2019’s 7T and 7T Pro first emerged back in June, with several major leaks revealing pretty much everything you need to know about the company’s next flagship in recent weeks.

OnePlus, of course, is known for teasing the heck out of its unreleased devices publicly, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that the brand has outright tweeted the full name of its next-gen Android phone over the weekend. What’s perhaps a little surprising is that happened on the OnePlus India account rather than the company’s main global handle, which might mean nothing… or it could mean that the OnePlus 8T 5G is set to be released (or at least announced) around those parts before anywh...

Does this new Surface Duo video make you want to buy one???

Microsoft has just released a new 120-second video for the Surface Duo. The productivity tool features a pair of 5.6-inch AMOLED displays separated by a cutting-edge 360-degree hinge. When opened to 180 degrees, the user has 8.1-inches of tablet-sized real-estate to work with. Thanks to optimized Android apps developed by Google and optimized Office apps developed by Microsoft, the Surface Duo might be considered a device created more for work than for play.
And the way the dual screens work with the hinge to create different modes, this could be the best phone for those who work out in the field. Lightweight and thin, the Surface Duo won’t get in the way when users are on the road...
